The United States Hang Gliding Association, also known as USHGA is a great organization whose purpose is to provide benefits to its membership, which include but are not limited to:

1. A pilot rating program.
2. A structured instructor certification program.
3. A training structure for tandem flight and aero towing.
4. Local club affiliation for the benefit of negotiated site insurance coverage.
5. A national magazine for flying, product and safety information.
6. Third party and participant liability insurance coverage for members.

Advanced Ratings

The rating system is used by our community to help provide ongoing education and skills evaluation. The best way to evaluate how a pilot is doing is to sit down and talk about your flight history, what has been good, what needs improvement and then go flying and see if there are any skills to improve. Most ratings require a written test. Circling Hawk offers P1, P2, P3, P4 and Tandem 1 ratings. We will spend about 4 hours together and try to fly a mountain site depending on the weather. Rating reviews are $100. Follow up lessons may be required.
