GPS Scoring

In order to keep it simple and somewhat hassle free for me, I’m asking that all ACTIVE track logs be downloaded and converted to .igc format using the GPSDump (freeware) program for PC’s. It’s a small (255k), streamlined application that works for most GPS units. You’ll need to download this application to your PC, download your track log and convert it, then e-mail it to me for scoring. It’s actually much simpler than you may think. If you don’t have access to a PC for this process there’ll be plenty of other pilots willing to help you. All scores will be posted on this site.

GPSDump can be downloaded from: http://www.multinett.no/~stein.sorensen/

When using CompeGPS software to download tracks
or upload waypoints, follow the instructions below.

Note: you can use demo or registered version.

Step 1

Open CompeGPS Air software and select the menu tab “Communications”.
Now configure the communications according to your GPS and after click Ok.

Make sure you have your GPS cable attached to your Serial or USB port and turn on your GPS.

CompeGPS is compatible with the most commonly used GPS models
from Garmin, Magellan, Brauniger, Flytec, Aircotec…

Step 2

Open the “Communications” menu tab and click the function “Download GPS track”.

CompeGPS will automatically search your GPS and download the track.

Step 3

After it saves the track in your PC, go to the “Flights” menu tab and click
on “Save tracks” and select *.iGC format (by default).

Suggestions:

Try the CompeGPS functions with the 3D viewer and animation,
and analyze your flight technique and the days conditions!

If you save the tracks to the “Log book” you will have your digital flight book
and make graphs of time / altitude / vario / distance to value your progression.

Contact support@compegps.com for any questions.
