Santa Barbara has some awesome opportunities for flying. Here the mountains almost touch the ocean and views are extraordinary. The local community has done an excellent job of developing sites in the area.

Great care is taken to open a site and secure a landing zone in the political arena. As pilots we all realize that we are each ambassadors of the sport of paragliding and we each try to understand the proper way to approach a flying site so that we do not risk the site for the community.

Here in Santa Barbara our mountain sites include:

• Alternator - LZs are Cieneguitas or Robin's

• Skyport - LZs are Parma, Saint Mary's, Postage Stamp

• West La Cumbre - LZs are Cieneguitas or Robin's

• VOR - LZs are the "T" or Cieneguitas

• Backside - LZ is Santa Ynez River bed

Our Cliff Sites include:

• Bates, Wilcox (P4/P3 requirement) and More Mesa

Local Site Clinic - Learn the Santa Barbara Sites

Circling Hawk offers site guide service for the local and regional area. Explore all eight local sites and fly two of them weather permitting. This is a full day clinic for $175. It includes radio coaching, drive to launch and retrieve. Pack some food and water for the long day.

Another option is to pick one site to fly. We will explore the LZ and discuss the launch and flight plan in great detail. $60
